Winners of the 2015 Student Design Competition announced

The results of the 2015 Student Design Competition have been announced!  Congratulations to Johan Dahlberg and Johanna Isaksson, from Chalmers University of Technology (Faculty Advisor: Prof. Mendel Kleiner), recipients of the First Honors prize sponsored by the Wenger Foundation!  Please see the corresponding webpage for a list of other commendation awardees and more details.  All entrants may expect follow-up from the co-chairs regarding the judge’s comments on their respective entry and the judging forms. The winning entrants may expect additional communications with the co-chairs regarding details of fund distribution and exchange of the digital files for Newman Fund publicity.  Thanks to all who participated!

2015 Acoustical Society of America Student Design Competition Announced

The announcement for the 2015 Acoustical Society of America Student Design Competition has been released.  The competition involves the design of a performance venue addition to a casino and hotel facility in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Teams must register by April 10, 2015, and final entries that are not hand-delivered at the conference are due by May 14, 2015.  More information can be found here.

2014 Acoustical Society of America Student Design Competition Announced

The announcement for the 2014 Acoustical Society of America Student Design Competition has been released.  The competition involves the design of a secondary school/high school Fine Arts building with diverse programming.  Teams must register by April 1, 2014, and final entries that are not hand-delivered at the conference are due by April 30, 2014.  More information can be found here.

2013 Student Design Competition Announcement

The announcement of the 2013 ASA Student Design Competition (last modified January 17, 2012), co-sponsored by the Newman Student Award Fund, has been released!  The 2013 design competition involves the design of a college performance hall and related facilities primarily for the school’s strong opera program. Students intending to enter the competition must register by sending an email to Norman Philipp (nphilipp@pittstate.edu) on or before April 8, 2013.  More information may be found in the full announcement.

2012 Student Design Competition Announcement

The 2012 Student Design Competition involves the acoustic design of a mixed use building planned for the Mong Kok district of Hong Kong, to include offices on the lower floors, luxury hotel rooms in the middle floors, and a nightclub on the top floor.  Entries will be judged at the upcoming Acoustical Society of America conference in Hong Kong, May 13-18, 2012.  Student teams interested in participating should register by sending an email to the competition organizers by April 19, 2012.  Please click here to download the full announcement.
