2007 SDC Results

The 2007 Student Design Competition was judged at the 153rd ASA Meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah, in June 2007. The project involved the design of a college performance hall and related facilities, primarily for the school’s strong opera program. There were 20 entries submitted from a number of different schools. The panel of judges included: Roger Jackson (FFKR Architects), Dana Hougland (Shen Milsom Wilke), Ron McKay (McKay Conant Brooke), Russ Cooper (Jaffe Holden Acoustics) and Russ Olsen (Acoustical Design Group).

And the winners are…

First Honors ($1250 prize):

  • Andrew Miller, Megan Hunziker and Matt Pauley from the University of Kansas (Faculty Advisor: Robert Coffeen)

Commendations in no particular order ($700 prize):

  • Rolando de la Cruz, Arthur van der Harten and Joshua Fialkoff from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Faculty Advisors: Paul Calamia and Ning Xiang)
  • Pamela Harght, Marshall Hilton and Andrew Thomas from the University of Kansas (Faculty Advisor: Robert Coffeen)
  • Benjamin Jados and Ayse Bautz from Illinois Institute of Technology (Faculty Advisor: Ralph Muehleisen)
  • Tom LePage, Yun Jing and Xiaohu Chen from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Faculty Advisors: Paul Calamia and Ning Xiang)
  • Dorea Ruggles, Nicholas Tranby and Elizabeth Panzer from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Faculty Advisors: Paul Calamia and Ning Xiang)
