2006 SDC Results

The 2006 Student Design Competition was judged at the 151st ASA Meeting in Providence, Rhode Island, in June 2006. The project involved the design of a new municipal building, including a court room and a community hall. There were 14 entries submitted from 7 different schools. The panel of judges included: Gregory Clark (Cerami & Associates), Felicia Doggett (Metropolitan Acoustics), John Erdreich (Ostergaard Acoustical), Dana Hougland (Shen Milsom Wilke), Bill Porter (MIT), and Carl Rosenberg (Acentech).

And the winners are…

First Honors ($1250 prize):

  • Hari Savitala, Anthony McCreery, and Arthur Van der Harten from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Faculty Advisors: Paul Calamia and Ning Xiang)

Commendations in no particular order ($700 prize):

  • Matthew Boyd and Daniel Valente from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Faculty Advisors: Paul Calamia and Ning Xiang)
  • Cynthia Carbonneau, Yick Lam Nicholas Chan, and David Clavey from McGill University (Faculty Advisor: Pierre Jampen)
  • Andrew Miller and Lauren Ronsse from the University of Kansas (Faculty Advisor: Robert Coffeen)
  • Elizabeth Ann Olson and Tyler Waldorf from the University of Kansas (Faculty Advisor: Robert Coffeen)
  • Zuhre Su, Gordon Rubin and Jarrod Whittington from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Faculty Advisors: Paul Calamia and Ning Xiang)
