The 2006 Student Design Competition, sponsored by the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) Technical Committee on Architectural Acoustics (TCAA) and the Newman Student Award Fund, was judged at the 151st ASA Meeting in Providence, Rhode Island, in June 2006. The project involved the design of a new municipal building, including a court room and a community hall. There were 14 entries submitted from 7 different schools. The panel of judges included: Gregory Clark (Cerami & Associates), Felicia Doggett (Metropolitan Acoustics), John Erdreich (Ostergaard Acoustical), Dana Hougland (Shen Milsom Wilke), Bill Porter (MIT), and Carl Rosenberg (Acentech).
The 2006 Awards have been funded by a grant from the Wenger Foundation through the ASA's Newman Student Award Fund. Wenger has generously agreed to fund the awards annually in memory of the firm's founder, Harry Wenger, who was a long-time friend of education in music and in architectural acoustics.
