The Acoustical Society of America (ASA) Technical Committee on Architectural Acoustics (TCAA) and National Council of Acoustical Consultants (NCAC) hosted a student design competition, judged at the 143rd ASA conference in Pittsburgh, June 2002. There were 10 posters submitted from 5 different schools. This year's panel of judges included: Felicia Doggett (Metropolitan Acoustics), Ron Freiheit (Wenger Corporation), Jim Johnson (Wrightson Johnson Haddon and Williams), Jim Pappas (Tasso Katselas Associates), and Carl Rosenberg (Acentech). The 2002 Awards have been funded entirely by a grant from the Wenger Foundation through the ASA's Newman Student Award Fund. Wenger has generously agreed to fund the awards annually in memory of the firm's founder, Harry Wenger, who was a long-time friend of education in music and in architectural acoustics.
