Congratulations to Chiemi Wakabayashi from Tokyo Institute of Technology, for being awarded a 2014 Newman Student Award Medal. Wakabayashi was nominated by Prof. Yasushi Shimizu, for her contributions towards her team’s excellent design submitted to the 2014 ASA Student Design Competition. In particular, Prof. Shimizu complimented Wakabayashi’s study on how the stage configuration fit each stage performance, both from an architectural design and an acoustical design.

Smyth from University College Dublin receives 2014 Newman Medal
Congratulations to Fiona Smyth from University College Dublin, for being awarded a 2014 Newman Student Award Medal. Smyth was nominated by Prof. Hugh Campbell, for her thesis “From Concept to Application: Analytical Frameworks in Architectural Acoustics in a Contextual Study of Three Anglican Cathedrals”, which addresses interdisciplinary developments in architectural acoustics in early twentieth-century Britain and Ireland.
Hui from Tsinghua University receives 2014 Newman Medal
Congratulations to Li Hui from Tsinghua University, for being awarded a 2014 Newman Student Award Medal. Hui was nominated by Prof. Yan Xiang, for research on human responses from being in extreme silent environments for eight hours.
